Cancer Education and Screenings

St. Francis Cancer Risk Screening Program (CRiSP)

The Cancer Risk Screening Program (CRiSP) at St. Francis can help identify inherited and early cancer risks, such as breast or ovarian cancer, by looking at your family background and medical history. With families with high risk of developing cancer, their genetic links are researched so that they can gain a better understanding of their risks and options. CRiSP offers opportunities for early detection, chemoprevention, and monitoring.

At St. Francis, we offer the support and resources necessary to make difficult medical decisions. CRiSP is a comprehensive program that includes genetic evaluation, testing, counseling, and referrals to health care services. St. Francis is also the only Upstate healthcare provider with a Genetic Consultant who is an Advanced Practice Nurse.

Screen for Life Program

St. Francis has developed the Screen for Life program, funded by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, to provide free mammography screenings and diagnostics to women who either do not have medical insurance or are financially unable to pay. Qualifiers must be Upstate residents and be referred from physicians or free clinics that have privileges at St. Francis. The program also seeks to alert high-risk populations in the Upstate, like African American and Hispanic women, of the benefits of early breast cancer detection.

In the Community

St. Francis' focus on healing individuals is complemented by educational programs aimed at the community. Through health screenings and special events, the hospital provides information about cancer prevention and early detection. Bon Secours St. Francis Health System also teams with local health partners to provide free screenings for skin cancer and other diseases.
