Bringing Our Community to Health and Wholeness

St. Francis exists for one reason – to be “good help to those in need.” That help doesn’t just include the patients in our facilities. In fact, St. Francis has a Community Ministries department that focuses solely on bringing our mission to life in our community through advocacy, outreach, providing access to health care, and more.

For the fiscal year ending August 31, 2007, St. Francis provided more than $19 million in community benefit to the Greenville community, including:
  • $13.5 million in charity care to patients without health insurance or the ability to pay
  • $4.6 million in care not reimbursed by Medicaid
  • $1 million in community benefit programs, including a local oral health project, partnerships with local organizations to provide care, and employee volunteer programs

While these numbers are impressive, it’s difficult to assign monetary value to catching cancer soon enough to beat it, giving a child the gift of a healthy smile or providing a social network for a lonely senior. We invite you to discover the countless ways we put our mission in action by viewing our latest Community Benefit Annual Report.
