Where?
Why?
Besides having fun, you have a chance to win prizes, including college scholarships
for top-performing juniors and seniors (details below). Every participant gets
a T-shirt and certificate, and everyone has a chance to win exciting door prizes!
Medals and trophies are awarded to top
performers in each age group and gender for each event. Past participants receive
awards for improved performance in three out of the five events, and awards go
to the high school with the most participants and to the high school with the
highest performing participants.
The athlete who gets the most friends to register for the event will win a $50
gift card to Best Buy! In addition, every participant who brings a friend will get extra entries in
the door prize drawing. Be sure your friends list your name in the "How Did You
Hear About the Event"
section on the registration form.

Event FAQ
What will I be doing?
You will participate in a group warm-up, then complete a vertical jump challenge,
a 40-yard dash, a 5-10-5 pro-agility drill, a L drill, and a three-event strength
challenge made up of push-ups, curl-ups, and lateral jumps.
Who will I compete against?
The actual competition will not be divided by age or gender, but your results
will be compared to other athletes in your gender and age groups to determine
top performers. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers in each age
group as well as top overall placers. The groups will be paired by grades and
are grouped as follows: 7th and 8th grade, 9th and 10th, and 11th and 12th grade.
When do I show up and how long will it take?
Your start time will be given to you when you call to register, and you should
plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. The
first start time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. The challenge will take approximately
one hour from start to finish.
Where is the event being held?
Who do I pay and when?
You can pay your $10 registration fee by check and mail it in with your registration
form. Checks should be made payable to Bon Secours St. Francis Health System.
Registrations made by May 1 will be $10; registrations taken at the door will
be $15.
What should I wear?
The competition will be indoors, so indoor athletic apparel will be appropriate.
Wear molded cleats or turf shoes - no metal cleats, please.
Are there any prizes or awards?
An awards ceremony will be held Thursday, May 28th. At the ceremony, every participant
will receive a t-shirt and certificate of participation. Medals will be awarded
for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers for each event, and trophies will be given to the
overall top performers. The college scholarships also will be awarded at the awards
ceremony.
Door prize winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
Scholarship Details
St. Francis Sports Medicine is proud to offer a total of six college scholarships
to current juniors or seniors who excel academically and athletically. Two $1,500
scholarships, two $1,000 scholarships and two $750 scholarships are available.

Who is Eligible?
Current high school juniors and seniors who have demonstrated scholastic achievement,
a strong community service background, and have participated in the Sports Performance
Challenge are eligible for the scholarship.

Challenge Details
Group Warm-up
Group will participate in a full functional warm-up, including but not limited
to, skipping, high knees, butt kicks, high skipping, and back pedaling.
Vertical Jump
Each athlete will complete two jumps from a standing position. The best of the
two jumps will be counted.
40-yard Dash
Each athlete will do two trials with the best of the two being counted.
Pro-Agility Drill to the Right (Also known as the 5-10-5)
The athlete starts by straddling the center line with their hand on the cone.
At the start, the athlete moves 5 yards to the right, touches the line, turns
around and goes 10 yards to the far line, and finally turns around sprinting 5
yards across the center line.
L Drill to the Right
Starting position is the same as the 40 yard dash. Athlete sprints forward and
goes around the outside of the cone, sprinting to their right. Athlete touches
the line, turns around, sprints around the outside of the cone and across the
line.
Iron Man
- Curl ups Reverse grip (palms facing you) pull-ups. Starting position is arms
at full extension and feet off the ground. Reps will only be counted when the
chin has cleared the bar and the arms have returned to full extension. Athletes
will complete as many reps as possible in 30 seconds.
- 12 lateral jumps Athlete jumps over a 12 hurdle, side to side, as many times
as possible in 30 seconds. Feet must stay together throughout the 30 seconds.
Reps will not be counted if the feet come apart or if both feet do not touch.
- Push-ups Athlete starts with the arms locked, body straight, and head up. Each
rep consists of the athlete lowering their chest to touch a ball and returning
to full extension. Body position must be maintained. There will be 30 seconds
to complete as many reps as possible.
