Back Injury Prevention Tips
When playing golf, stretching and warming up the muscles you are about to engage
is important to injury prevention. Give yourself plenty of time to stretch and
hit a few balls to warm up – especially the muscles of your back.
- Start by holding the golf club (one hand on each end) and turning the trunk of
your body to the left and hold, then turn to your body to the right and hold.
Repeat 5-10 times.
- Start practice swings slowly on the driving range; don’t automatically bring
out the driver!
- At the first sign of injury, stop and rest. Taking ibuprofen may reduce inflammation
and the amount of pain. (Follow the dosing instructions on the medication). Applying
ice to the painful area may also help.
