Medical history for thrush

Your doctor may suspect thrush if you:

  • Have a history of illness (such as diabetes or HIV) or are frail (debilitated).
  • Have false teeth, braces, or a retainer.
  • Smoke.

Your doctor may suspect thrush in an infant if:

  • A newborn or infant refuses to eat.
  • The mother of a newborn has a vaginal yeast infection.
