Spring into Action!

We may be losing an hour of sleep this month, but we're gaining an hour of daylight! How will you spend your extra hour in the sun? It's a great opportunity to add a daily walk to your after-work routine. Just 30 minutes of physical activity, like walking, can strengthen your heart, reduce stress and even help you lose a few pounds

Walking outdoors can also help your body produce Vitamin D, the "sunshine vitamin." Vitamin D not only helps boost bone strength -recent studies indicate that it may even help ward off cancer, heart disease, diabetes and depression. Aim to spend about 10 minutes in the sunlight at least three times a week - just don't forget to protect your face and hands with sunscreen!

Making Family History

In honor of Women's History month, do some digging into your own medical history! Family history is important in determining which conditions you are most likely to experience. Often, the same conditions that affected your mother and grandmother will affect you, too. Start by making a Family Medical History Tree to discover what kind of conditions are the most prevalent in your family. Then, schedule an appointment with your family physician to discuss your risks and what you can do to stay healthy. Looking for a physician?
