Nursing Externships
St. Francis is proud to offer externship opportunities for current undergraduate and graduate nursing students from area colleges.
The Student Nursing Extern program at St. Francis is a comprehensive eight-week nursing experience each summer for externs to improve their technical skills and knowledge base. At St. Francis, our goal for each Extern is to help them embrace our philosophy for quality outcomes in patient care while assisting the student towards self-actualization in nursing. The program consists of weekly meetings with the program coordinators and weekly educational offerings with most of the extern’s time being focused in the chosen clinical areas.
Externs are supervised by preceptors who are Registered Nurses. As part of the Student Nursing Extern Program, the extern will be paid as a St. Francis employee.
