Joint Camp EducationHip and Knee Pain Seminar"Prehab" Class
When patients have a clear understanding of what to expect from a total joint replacement, they have more realistic expectations following surgery and often have better outcomes. Joint Camp patients attend a “Prehab” class to learn what to expect before, during and after surgery. We encourage patients to come with a designated family member or friend. At Prehab, patients also are given comprehensive, patient-friendly guides that educate them on the entire hip replacement and knee replacement process. The guides explain pre- and post-operative strengthening exercises, share what to expect in the hospital, and outline post-operative care and home safety. Even during the hospital stay, patients receive daily newsletters that establish every day’s expectations and goals. "Coach" ProgramJoint Camp encourages the participation of family or friends in the recovery process and offers an official “coach” program. Coaches participate in group therapy and learn how to help patients recover and stay safe when they return home. |
