Physical and occupational therapy are essential components of the
Joint Camp
program. The goal of therapy is to help patients gain mobility, strength and independence.
All therapy sessions are individualized to meet the specific needs of each patient.
Initially, patients receive therapy in their room. Beginning the second day after
surgery, patients attend group therapy with other Joint Camp patients.
Sharing the post-surgical experience in a group setting helps patients build
confidence, promotes camaraderie, and provides encouragement from people who truly
know how they feel. Contests and graduation ceremonies, complete with accompanying
music and an official diploma, help make the experience a memorable one!
