Meet the First Baby of 2014

As revelers ushered in the New Year in downtown Greenville and throughout the upstate, a very happy family and the Bon Secours St. Francis Health system welcomed the first baby born this year in our hospital.

Baby Austin Taylor Vandiver was born at 5:10 a.m. on January 1, 2013, making him the first baby born at ST. FRANCIS eastside in 2014. He weighed 8 lbs. 4oz. and was born to Taylor and Christina Vandiver of Greenville,  joining older sister Isabelle to complete their family of four.

“I knew we’d be close to being the New Year’s baby when I started having contractions just after midnight as we were watching New Year’s celebrations on TV," Christina said. "We’re very excited and I like the attention our sweet baby boy is getting as he begins his life. It's reason to celebrate anyway, but this just makes it extra special.”

Little Austin arrived a week before his scheduled due date.
