Nuclear Medicine at St. FrancisSt. Francis offers a full range of nuclear medicine studies, including scans
of most organs, bones, tumors and thyroid. The nuclear medicine staff is highly
trained, licensed and certified in nuclear medicine.
Starting in May 2008, patients can choose from two outpatient locations to complete their nuclear medicine studies.
While nuclear medicine requires radioactive substances to be intravenously or
orally administered to the patient, the exposure to radiation is similar to tests
involving an X-ray. These tests are very helpful in helping physicians diagnose
conditions and are much less invasive than an exploratory surgery.
